It has happened! We have planted the sunflowers at the farm. It may not look like much now but just wait! In about 50 to 60 days we will start seeing blooms. We are excited to tell you that we planted three different varieties of sunflowers this year. We have a Vincent’s Choice sunflower which is a traditional yellow petal. We have a Pro-Cut White which is a very delicate creamy yellow that we grew last year. It is a stunning flower. And last is the show stopper, Pro-Cut Plum. It has a beautiful purplish pink center on the petals and fades to a soft yellow.

Our plan is to plant these varieties in several waves. That way we will be able to provide photographers with fresh blooms from mid-September through November. We are strategically planting rows with a skip for access into the fields on a quarter mile run. This way photographers will have plenty of room for their clients without rubbing elbows with someone else’s clients!

This is our first real jump into planting specifically for photographic use and we are beyond excited! As a farmer we depend on the weather and nature to grow a successful crop. That is the reason that we won’t be able to give you a specific date of first bloom. Please be patient and watch our social media. So please pray for our sunflowers to bloom successfully. Farming takes not only water and work but lots of prayer!

We are planning to host a “Sunflower Booking Open House” at the end of August. That will be the first openings to book the field. At that time you will be able to purchase a two week pass and book sessions or book and purchase individual sessions. We will be announcing this event on social media soon! So keep watching for it!

We are working hard to iron out the details of booking and keeping those plants happy! We had so much fun in the brocolli and wheat fields that we can’t wait to see all the beautiful pictures that will come from the sunflower field! Hope you are having a terrific summer!

Blessings,

Carrie
