Building a custom home is not for the faint of heart…..or the couple who have trouble making decisions!  There is decision after decision to be made in the process, so I’m inviting you to be a part of the journey with us! This farmhouse build has been on our bucket list for quite a while now.  We have prayed for years that a parcel of land next to our roping arena and farm would become available. Well it did in the summer of 2015.  So we purchased the property and got busy making house plans.  We used a fellow team roper and all around good cowboy as our architect.  Dean Drosos of www.ArizonaHousePlans.com penned his magic on my dreams for this farmhouse.  He and I spent lots of hours talking about what our lifestyle looks like and what our family needs were for this house.

A couple of important tips for getting your plans completed:

1.  Find an architect who is compatible with your personality and is willing to let you dream.

2.  Really put some time into thinking about your family’s lifestyle and everyday habits.  For example:  I am not a great housekeeper and we will be living on a farm next to a roping arena.  So we decided dark wood floors wouldn’t be ideal for us!

3.  Clip, snap, cut, glue, save, copy and paste all the pictures that you love of a house and it’s features so that your architect and builder will have the same thoughts in their head that you have in yours!

4.  Then remember to keep communicating with all the decision makers involved.  Don’t be afraid to ask questions when you don’t understand the terms someone is using.  Express any concerns as soon as they come.  Share any ideas to see if they are possible!

Well thanks for joining us on our journey of building our farmhouse.  I think we will have a lot of fun together in the days to come!!
