My crazy life showed up the same morning as the trusses.  I was so proud of myself that I showed up at the farmhouse at 6:15am and the crane showed up at 6:30am.  The most unusual part of that, was being up, dressed (not well), and someplace at that time of the morning.  I had my camera all charged up and sitting on my seat ready for action.  So when the crane pulled in I was so excited about watching the trusses go up.  Once the first of the smaller trusses was locked onto the big strap, all the framers are ready for action, I scurry up the big dumpster to get the perfect shot of the trusses as they cross over from the ground, past the rising sun and gently set on top of the farmhouse.  Then it happened……I started clicking away on my camera and realized the SD card was still in my computer back at home!  Yikes!  I thought I was so ready! So I very awkwardly make my way down the dumpster running to my car to retrieve my iphone.  I’ve seen all the iphone commercials where people take amazing shots.  I gently toss the camera on the seat stuff my iphone in my back pocket and up the dumpster I go.   By this time there are already some of the smaller single trusses up.  I am amazed at how precise the crane sets them on top of the house and how confident the framers are as the slide along the wobbly wood to hammer and secure them.

I was feeling good about the photo opportunities at this point because at least I hadn’t forgotten my phone, right?  Well after several shots of the single trusses were snapped I was so excited for the two trusses that I called the “Big Daddy” trusses.  Each of these sets of trusses weighed 2400 pounds!  They are the trusses that will make the frame for the dormer windows on the top of the house. So as the framers were snapping on the big straps for the Big Daddy trusses I took a few shots, then……it happened.  The screen on my iphone flashed STORAGE FULL!!!!  I was stunned.  I was devastated.  I was in panic mode.  I immediately started erasing things off my phone indiscriminately.  It was a crazy few moments where I had no regard for any app or video I had cherished just moments before on my phone.  Luckily I was able to get some pretty awesome shots!

My phone has not completed been restored to its past glory.  Actually I’m not really sure what all I deleted.  But the important thing is that I got the picture of the trusses going up on the farmhouse.  My crazy life shows up more often than I’d like to admit, so I am thankful that ultimately the good Lord is in charge of me!  I can’t be trusted on my own!  The Lord is fully in charge when I am mixing with technology.

Hope you enjoy the pictures of the trusses going on to the farmhouse.  When I walked into the house and under all the trusses I felt a little tinge of what it’s going to be like to call this house HOME!
