My foundation is done!! Wow! Now it seems like the farmhouse is real! I have discovered that a foundation is so important in life and a home. So this all took place at 4:00am before I got out of bed. I tried to make it shortly after to give you a good look at the work! The men stomped around in deep concrete to get this all smooth and strong for the farmhouse to last many lifetimes! The interesting thing about a foundation is that it actually has so many layers. The original spot was picked out, then we added dirt for the pad. After that is was tested and we dug the trenches to add the water lines and plumbing. This is even the stage that you decide where your electrical floor plugs that are in the middle of the room should be located! That was hard to decide! What I realized is you make the best guess and live with it later……but keep moving…..that are a lot more decisions to be made! Once this is all done the ground is smoothed and packed. Then comes another layer that is a combo of gravel and sand. Now you are ready for the concrete truck to come and pour your foundation. So I am reminded of how important our foundation in life is. It is layers of experiences that give us the strength to hold up our lives when the storms come. It is small decisions, like the sand, that are as important, and big elements, like the concrete, that gives the foundation its form.
