Dreaming always seems like such a dreamy idea…….sitting on a beach gazing across the blue foamy waves watching a brilliant orange sunset…….sitting in front of fireplace cozied up to a cup of hot chocolate in the cutest flower mug ever……….sitting on a rock overlooking the most beautiful snow capped mountains adorned with beautiful, fragrant pine trees beneath a captivating blue sky! Now that’s dreaming at it’s best!
I have found that I am a pretty good dreamer. That was a quality my Mom instilled in me. “You can be anything you want to be, go anywhere you want to go, achieve any goal you set your mind to,” she would say. So I have believed that all my life. I have had the privilege of dreaming in some of the afore mention places……but mostly I dream as I struggle to go to sleep at night or when I’m driving or when I’m getting dressed in the morning on autopilot! Nevertheless it is dreaming.
Now comes the hard part. Dreaming is one thing, but DOING is a whole different story! Over the years some of my dreams have become reality. Those all seemed much more like goals than dreams though……graduating from college, getting married, raising kids, traveling the world among a few of them. I am now in what I call the real dream stage! Those dreams that you didn’t know existed when you were young or didn’t think you could even think about at your age! Those impossible, out of the ordinary, nobody (even you sometimes) thinks you can do kind of dreams!
Those dreams are what I am doing right now! Writing on my very own blog! Wow! When I was in college as a journalism major I was still writing on a typewriter that I had to correct with white-out! Yes I’m that old! Whoever heard of the word blog? I always wanted to write for a magazine, which I have over the years. I’m in love with magazines! I think of this blog as a magazine without the shiny cover! Now my dreams are hosting events and connecting with people in creative ways through the Sweet Flower Home blog. As exciting as it is to dream, making it a reality it hard work. How do you show that in a pretty picture?
Sometimes, okay a lot of the time, real life crowds out the dream work. Laundry, caring for aging parents, dinner, groceries for dinner, visiting a sick friend, figuring your taxes or going to the dentist. All necessary parts of life and that’s where I am now. Trying to figure out how to build my Sweet Flower Home brand and still have balance in my life.
I love all the ideas I have for Sweet Flower Home and am working hard to help you have experiences in your life that are enriching and fulfilling! My first real life experience is our Flower Friday Workshop. We are going to be making flower arrangements from grocery store flowers and dollar store vases and embellishments. I hope that those of you who can attend will be able to connect with others face to face and learn how to make your life a little more beautiful on a budget! When I created the event it was an exciting moment to push the “publish” button! Click……a small dream……reality! Big excitement!!
As our journey progresses I hope we get to have more face to face experiences to connect to each other with. I have some more Small Dreams and Big Dreams floating around in my head that I’ll share with you soon! Let me know what some of your dreams are……maybe Sweet Flower Home can make them come true!
