Well we sure had fun with this makeover!  My friend Amy has been working really hard at losing weight.  She is the office manager at my church and spends her days doing multiple task for staff and church members.  What she didn’t do was exercise!  She went out on limb in January and her and her family began a weight loss challenge to get healthy!  Amy dove in feet first…….yes she bought a pair of running/hiking shoes! Wow! That opened up a whole new world! So with the combination of old fashion physical exercise and eating healthy she has lost over 50 pounds!

Amy tells us her story:

On January 1, 2017, twelve members of our family started a family fitness challenge to encourage each other to get healthy in two categories, weight loss and number of steps walked.  I had tried to lose weight many times in my life but only a few times have I ever tried to change my lifestyle.  But I decided this was time to get healthy and change my ways and if I did that I would lose weight in the process.  I started by eating less to shrink my stomach, then I cut out potatoes, pasta and bread.  After a few week of being very cranky, I settled in on making better food choices and eating 1200 calories a day.  I then started walking every night and eventually starting hiking two or three times a week.  In just four short months, I lost 50 lbs and came in second place to my husband in the family fitness challenge.  I have kept the weight off for 5 months and plan to start back hiking and walking now the weather is getting nicer.  I used to be a regular napper and now I only nap if I’m sick.  I have more energy and would have never imagined that I would enjoy hiking and jogging.  I don’t love doing them but I love the way I feel when I achieve a goal.  My journey to better health has been a good example for not only others, but also my teenage daughters and my spiritual life has benefitted from my lifestyle change as well.  1 Corinthians tells us our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and I remind myself of that regularly to keep my focus! We are not to be controlled by our flesh, but that flesh is powerful, so we have to use the even greater power of the Holy Spirit to stay strong in our life choices. Thanks Amy!  That was well said!

We thought it would be a nice treat for Amy to have a makeover for her birthday!  First Randey cut and colored her hair.  She just gave her some subtle high lights and color.  Amy has never dyed her hair before so we didn’t want to go to drastic or make it difficult for her to keep up.  Randey gave her an updated cut and style that will be something she can manage on her own!  Jenna gave her a beautiful smoky eye, lip color and blush.  Amy has beautiful porcelein skin so it wasn’t a challenge to make her up!  Amy has never worn anything but lipstick so we are giving a simple palette of soft eye shadow colors so she can give herself an extra little boost when she feels like it!  I went shopping with Amy to find a nice fall outfit that she can make work for her!  A great pair of dark colored jeans is any girl’s best friend.  We bought a pair of Levi’s that fit perfectly!  Then paired it with a fall colored Chaps’s button up blouse.  This makes such a nice slimming look and can go from work to dinner in a heartbeat!  We also got her into a square heeled shoe with her toes peeking out!  This gave her a little height and gives her leg a longer look.  She can take each of these pieces and pair them with another piece of clothing and have a totally different outfit! We purchased all her clothes at Kohl’s.

We hope you have been inspired by Amy’s adventures!  We think by eating healthy and exercising she is losing weight in a way that is truly a lifestyle change for the better!  Having a birthday makeover by Sweet Flower Home was a fun reward for all her hard work!

Thank you for stopping by Sweet Flower Home!  We hope you enjoyed your time with us today and remember to come back soon!
