Let me introduce you to Pearl and Poppy. Pearl is my mother cow and Poppy is her calf. They were made with love by a friend in a welding shop behind her house in Missouri! Karen is a true artist with an unbelievable talent for metal sculptures. Once they were created Karen brought them to their new home at the Farmhouse in Buckeye in a horse trailer.

They had to live out in the weeds in the back pasture while we were still building a home for them. I had the vision in my mind of what I wanted their home to look like, but implementing it was another thing. I wanted them to greet you when you pulled up to the Farmhouse, yet I still wanted them to feel at home in cozy natural area. So we created the front island. I wanted a Palo Verde tree for them to rest under because of the beautiful yellow blossoms it has in the spring. The tall grass and flowery bushes give cover for Poppy. We do have a lot of coyotes around here!

So we moved the mother and calf to their new island home. But alas they were still empty. If you look closely rock is what fills their bodies out to give them a solid appearance. We couldn’t fill them with rocks until they found their final home.

The shrubbery and tree has grown in the island this season and I love when people spot the duo before they come into the house! The grandkids love to say hello to our two cows in the front yard!

This cow and calf are always a joy to me and others as they greet us coming into the Farmhouse!

Thanks for stopping by Sweet Flower Home!
